If you are filing a 2021 return, there is no longer a form 1040-A or 1040-EZ. You must use form 1040.If you are filing a recent form return 2021 or prior, then you must use form 1040 if filing a schedule C. There’s no place to enter business income on a form 1040-A. Also, right at the top schedule C (2021 version), it says “Attach to Form 1040, 1040NR, or 1041”. No 1040-A or 1040-EZ. It says the same on prior versions as well.

You go to schedule C, report the 1700 as income and start deducting the expenses that are directly the cause of the income like cameras, phone, computer and peripherals. These you may need to depreciate over time. If the equipment are new, you may be eligible for a 1/2 of cost to be deductible under IRC 179. make sure if pay by credit cards , it is not the revolving charge cards like staple because those you cannot deduct the interest. The other direct expense that you can expense are: 1/2 of meals, trave like hotels, office supplies, telephone bills, continuing education. If you have a loss, don let these losses go past 3 years or else the IRS might disallow the losses up to the amount income under IRC 183 after 3 years ef , the IRS can go back 2 years to adjust the other loss years.
